Deep red and delicious, this berry has made headlines over the past few years for its high concentration of antioxidants. The acaí berry is a major part of the Amazonian diet and in certain Brazil- ian tribes, the acaí palm (from which the berries are harvested) is known to sometimes provided over 40% of the community’s ca- loric intake.
